No, Phoenix DSA chapter co-chair Emily Kirkland said that Amish Shah is not and has never been a member of the DSA, calling the claim “one of the most ridiculous things [she had] ever heard.” She added that Amish Shah was a moderate and one of the more conservative members of the state legislature among the Democrats. Phoenix New Times reported that the claim came from Jay Feely, the Trump-endorsed Republican candidate, who called Shah a "Democrat Socialist" in a Fox News interview two days after both men won their primaries.

According to AZ Family and Phoenix New Times, Amish Shah made a name for himself as a more moderate member of the House Democrats who works across the aisle. He was the lone Democrat to vote for a measure to lower the felony threshold for fentanyl trafficking in 2022. He consistently worked and met with police unions, earning him three endorsements from law enforcement groups in the race.

In the same reporting, Amish Shah said that he is a capitalist, was an economics major, started a business, and believes in capitalism. Amish Shah also said that his parents came from India, which after making capitalist reforms in 1992 saw 400 million people lifted out of poverty with food to eat and a roof over their head, demonstrating the power of human productivity unleashed with capitalism and capitalist systems.

Phoenix New Times reported that Amish Shah supports a public option that would let Americans buy into Medicare if they choose, and that he has backed away from Medicare for All. Phoenix New Times reported that the only tie the NRCC and Feely could make between Amish Shah and the DSA was a 2019 healthcare panel that the DSA and a few other organizations co-sponsored, where Amish Shah spoke about working as an emergency room doctor. Bobby Nichols, a DSA member elected to the Tempe City Council in May, told Phoenix New Times that he does not believe Amish Shah has any other connection to the DSA and is not aware of Amish Shah ever having been a member.
