KTAR reported that in March 2022, Amish Shah voted for SB1593, a bill signed into law that protects sexual assault victims from having to pay for medical examinations needed to collect evidence of the crime. Under Senate Bill 1593, sponsored by Republican Sen. Sine Kerr of Buckeye, victims are not charged for any medical or forensic interview or examination expenses, and the bill expands the list of sexual offenses for which counties are required to pay medical and forensic examination costs to include crimes against youth between the ages of 15 to 17, which were previously not included. KTAR also reported that the bill passed both chambers unanimously apart from a few no votes, and that Gov. Doug Ducey said victims had in the past been charged as much as $800 for the examinations.

The AZ Mirror reported that in May 2019, Amish Shah voted for a bill, which was signed into law, to extend the statute of limitations for victims of childhood sexual abuse to sue their abusers as well as institutions and organizations that ignored such abuse or allowed it to happen. The bill, House Bill 2466, was passed unanimously by lawmakers, the AZ Mirror reported. At the time of the AZ Mirror's report, the statute of limitations in Arizona ended two years after a victim turned 18 years old. The AZ Mirror also reported that, under a compromise plan brokered by Republican Sen. J.D. Mesnard of Chandler and approved by lawmakers, victims of childhood sexual abuse have until the age of 30 to sue in civil court, and those older than 30 had an extra window lasting until the end of 2020 to sue.
